Bioenergized Street Lamps

In his talk at TedXLausanneChange, Pierre Calleja, presents an interesting invention by a group of researchers he led at FermentAlg; a company exploring the exceptional properties of algae, of a streetlamp that is powered by algae. Mr. Calleja, not only speaks about the quality of light that is emitted but also the extraordinary ability of algae to filter out CO2 and other toxins from the air. 30% more efficient than traditional green spaces and forests, these lamps could help filter and enhance the urban environment inside and out, while producing sustainable bio-fuels.
